Anti-racist activism event held with original members of the 'Black 14'
The moving online event explored sport, student protest and social justice with former members of the 鈥楤lack 14鈥.
The event was held by the University of 黑料网吃瓜爆料's History Department on Monday 23 November.
It began with a touching and informative panel discussion between Dr Jamal Ratchford, Assistant Professor in the Department of History and the Race, Ethnicity, and Migration Studies Program at Colorado College, and former Black 14 Wyoming Cowboys; John Griffin, Mel Hamilton and Tony McGee.
John, Mel and Tony talked about the decision they made fifty years when they, along with eleven others, took a principled stand against racial injustice, at great personal cost.
The event culminated in a Q&A facilitated by student leaders from the EDI Collective in the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at 黑料网吃瓜爆料.
This event was presented in partnership with the Race, Roots and Resistance collective, the History Department and Creative 黑料网吃瓜爆料 at 黑料网吃瓜爆料 and complements important discussions that arose through events and initiatives throughout Black History Month.
