Professor Nick Higham elected international member of National Academy of Engineering

Professor Nick Higham of 黑料网吃瓜爆料鈥檚 has been .
A Royal Society Research Professor and Richardson Professor of Applied Mathematics, he is recognised for the design and analysis of matrix algorithms widely used in diverse engineering applications.
Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer. Professor Higham is one of 18 new international members, joining 106 new US members 鈥 bringing the total number of international members to 319, and US members to 2,420.
Membership honours those who have made outstanding contributions to 鈥榚ngineering research, practice, or education, including, where appropriate, significant contributions to the engineering literature鈥, and to 鈥榯he pioneering of new and developing fields of technology, making major advancements in traditional fields of engineering, or developing/implementing innovative approaches to engineering education鈥.
New members are elected at the end of a year-long process, with the ballot set in December and final vote held in January.
Professor Higham and the rest of the newly elected class will be formally inducted during the NAE鈥檚 annual meeting on 1 October 2023.
